Emerald Junior Golf runs all year round during school terms only. At times, however, there may be Junior events at other Central Highlands clubs or Senior Club events happening which will prevent the running of Junior Golf for that day.

Ages for juniors is between 5 and 18 years, however, parents need to be in attendance for the younger age groups. We base our activities around skill levels rather than ages so new juniors are assessed on their first visit and then will be put in the division which bests suits them – 2 holes, 3 holes, 6 holes, 9 holes, 13 holes or 18 holes. Each of the divisions have co-ordinators and it is at their discretion when your child will move up to the next division.

Juniors are held on Saturday mornings from 8.30 am – 10.30 am where activities are organised for each of the divisions – we focus more on the teaching and practicing of skills rather than playing. Juniors should wear closed-in shoes, collared shirt and hat, apply sunscreen and bring a water-bottle. Sometimes, if it’s cold in winter, we may hold Juniors half an hour later or if there is a Senior comp on we may finish a little earlier so we are off the course before the comp begins.

Membership fees vary depending on the type of membership the junior is to take up.  

This membership allows the Junior to play on the course all year at no extra cost unless playing in a competition and also gives parents, who are not already members, complimentary social membership to enable them to take advantage of the facilities in the Clubhouse.

Green fees of $4 are also charged each Saturday morning. This fee helps towards the running costs of Juniors. We do, however, have a ‘try before you buy’ policy where the first 3 visits on a Saturday morning are free to ensure that golf is what your child wishes to do before having to outlay membership fees etc.

The Junior Club has a large range of golf clubs for use for those who do not have their own equipment. These are for use on Saturday mornings and there are also some golf sets which may be borrowed. If wanting to purchase a set of golf clubs, please see the Pro, Matt Victorsen, who will be able to fit your child with a set of clubs and make recommendations on what best suits them.

Club shirts are available to order for $35.00 each. The wearing of these shirts is not compulsory, however, it does look like we are a team when we travel. All Junior communication is done by email so ensure that you have supplied an up-to-date email address. Also, we have a Junior Facebook page which is regularly updated.
